what is a music smart link?
a music smart link is a single URL that figures out which streaming service each listener uses and sends them straight there (spotify for the spotify crowd, apple music for the apple crowd, and so on) instead of forcing everyone through one platform’s link.
you post one link in your instagram bio, your tiktok, your youtube description. someone taps it, lands on a small page with every service your release is on, and picks theirs. (or, if you turn on smart routing, they skip the page entirely and go straight to their usual app.) one link, every platform, no dead ends.
why not just post a spotify link?
because most of your audience isn’t on spotify. globally, spotify is roughly a third of paid streaming subscribers. the rest are split across apple music, youtube music, amazon, deezer, tidal and more. post a raw spotify link and you’ve quietly told everyone on another service to go find it themselves. a lot of them won’t.
a smart link removes that friction. every listener reaches the release in one tap, on the service they already pay for, which is exactly the service most likely to count your stream, add you to their algorithmic radar, and pay out.
how a smart link is built
you don’t enter ten URLs by hand. you paste one (usually the spotify or apple link you already have) and a scanner resolves the same release across the other services and assembles the page for you.
paste a link
drop in any source URL for the release (spotify, apple, a UPC, whatever you’ve got).we find the rest
the scanner matches the release on the other DSPs (spotify, apple, deezer, youtube + youtube music, pandora, tidal, amazon, qobuz, bandcamp, soundcloud) and pulls the artwork.theme + publish
colors are pulled from your cover art automatically; you publish, and the short link is live on the edge in seconds.
what a good smart link does beyond routing
- conditional redirects: send iOS to apple and android to spotify, or route by country, automatically.
- pre-save: before release day, let listeners opt in so the track auto-saves to their library when it drops (here’s how).
- email capture + a release-day broadcast: collect emails and message your audience when the record is out.
- analytics: see visits, click-throughs, services, and locations, so you know which platforms and channels actually move.
smart link vs link-in-bio
they overlap but aren’t the same. a link-in-bio (think linktree) is a list of static links for everything you do. a smart link is built for a release: it knows the track is on ten services and routes each listener to theirs. you can have both: a music-native tool gives you a bio page and real smart links, where a generic hub gives you static links and calls it a day.
